The list of the players entering the upcoming NFL Draft is final after the underclassman deadline passed last week. Several African American quarterbacks will try to take the next step including surprise early entry former Florida State player Xavier Lee
January 18, 2008
(Philadelphia, Pa) --- The draft lost intereresting prospect former Oklahoma State QB Bobby Reid when the former prized recruit obtained a transfer to Texas Southern rather than entering the draft. But a surprise player did put his name on the list in former Florida State highly recruited high school player Xavier Lee, who left as a redshirt Junior.
Lee came to FSU with high expectations as Florida's Mr. Football, but he never really made an impact on the field playing behind Drew Weatherford. After another up and down season in 2007 where he went back and forth from the bench, Lee decided the draft was in his future rather than move to the team's requested position of tight end. Look for Lee to be a possible late round pick or an undrafted free agent. He is hoping to get an invitation to the upcoming NFL combine.
Other quarterbacks entering the draft include:
Oregon Ducks senior quarterback Dennis Dixon
Josh Johnson, University of San Diego Senior
Bret Meyer, Iowa State Senior
Sedale Threatt, Lehigh Senior
Kentucky Wildcats senior quarterback Andre Woodson
USM senior quarterback Jeremy Young
and Sleeper pick: Omar Haugabrook of Troy State
