NFL Free Agency is upon us with several players including former Dolphins quarterback Cleo Lemon cashing in. Lemon signed a contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
March 2008
(Philadelphia, Pa) --- The NFL Free Agency period is upon us with a spending spree by owners that I have never seen before. Players like former Cardinals linebacker Calvin Pace (a former high school quarterback) are getting huge deals -- six-years, $42 million contract including $22 million in guarantees and a $20 million signing bonus -- even though their play may not have validated it to this point.
The spending spree has also included African American quarterbacks with former Dolphins signal caller Cleo Lemon signing a 3-year, 9 Million dollar contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Lemon will be a back-up to up and coming Jags starter David Garrard. In 2007 as a part-time starter, Lemon threw for numbers of 173-309, 56%, 1773 yards, 6 TDs, and 6 INTs with 102 yards and 4 TDs on the ground.
Other quarterbacks hoping for a free agent contract include:
Former Oakland Raiders QB Daunte Culpepper
Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Bruce Eugene
Former Jacksonville Jaguars QB Quinn Gray
Former Atlanta Falcons QB Byron Leftwich
Former Pittsburgh Steelers QB Bryan Randall
